Maylands Amateur Boatbuilding Yard

The amateur boatbuilding yard in Maylands is a nice place to include in a walk around the neighbourhood, especially with a camera in hand. It is well-located for sunrises over the river. It is always interesting to see which boat projects are making progress and which are likely to be forever stagnant. I could see myself picking up an old wooden boat dirt cheapo and imagining I could learn the skills to fix it while working on it. Then several years later discovering I was never going to have the time and I’ve wasted all my money on storage fees. Or have I just convinced myself not make that blunder? Perhaps I’ll stick to photographing other people’s boats slowly decaying.

  1. Yep, I recommend keeping your wallet tucked firmly away if you’re anywhere near a boat. Better to spend your disposable funds on cameras and lenses! Looking forward to seeing more of your work here. Welcome back, Bruce!

I’ve been tempted to get a cheap dinghy this year though. Maybe for next summer. And you found me! It’s a low-key blog launch so far while I dredge the archive for photos. I hope all is well for you Damian!
